Payment Options

Beginning in March, utility service disconnections were suspended and late fees were temporarily waived in response to the COVID-19 health threat.

On June 9, 2020 regular payment and collections processes will resume, including late fees and service disconnections. Business and residential customers with concerns about paying their utility bill are encouraged to call the customer service office to discuss options, including payment plans. Customer service staff remain available to answer questions over the phone Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 319-268-5280.

In response to the COVID-19 health threat, the application period for Iowa’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has been extended to June 30, 2020.

LIHEAP uses federal and state funds to pay a portion of utility heating costs for qualified households. Eligibility is based on household size and income. In Black Hawk County, applications for heating assistance are administered by Operation Threshold. To apply, contact Operation Threshold at 319-291-2065 or CFU customer service at 319-268-5280.
