Vendor Ending SecureIT and Tech Home Protect Services

SecureIT, FileHopper and Password Genie Will No Longer Be Available

The vendor we contract with to provide SecureIT, FileHopper and Password Genie is discontinuing these services. SecureIT, the antivirus software, and the FileHopper and Password Genie services were included in our complimentary Tech Home Protect package provided with your CFU internet plan.

The vendor has set the following product end dates:

FileHopper and Password Genie will no longer be available after December 31, 2025. SecureIT will be discontinued after March 31, 2026. We understand that this end date is approaching soon. Please know that we worked as quickly as possible to inform you as soon as our vendor notified us of this decision.

CFU provided these as complimentary services to internet subscribers when few options were available to assist customers in this space. Since that time, many quality, free or low-cost alternatives come built into your device operating system or your home networking equipment and are available through trusted app stores.

Key Dates:

  • Dec 31, 2025: FileHopper and Password Genie will be discontinued and no longer be available after this date. All personal data within the app will be deleted.
    • FileHopper allowed users to back up documents, photos, music and emails for desktop and mobile devices.
    • Password Genie is a password manager and allowed users to securely store login information on desktop and mobile devices.
  • Mar 31, 2026: SecureIT antivirus software will be discontinued and no longer be available after this date.
