on Wednesday, June 28, 2017
Cedar Falls Utilities hosted Governor Kim Reynolds and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg June 8 at the Prairie Lakes community solar array.
The stop was part of the Governor’s multi-day tour of Iowa energy innovators.
During the visit, the Governor and Lt. Governor toured the array and spoke to CFU staff about the project’s success. The Governor was interested in learning more about the community’s enthusiasm for the project.
Total capacity of the array is 1.5 MW. It is currently the largest community solar project in Iowa.
More than 1,200 residents and businesses purchased units in the project. Customers who purchased units will receive a utility bill credit based upon the output from the panels. Credits started in May 2016 and will continue for 20 years.
The project is located near Prairie Lakes Park in Cedar Falls on eight acres donated by the city of
Cedar Falls. For more information, visit cfu.net/solar.
