CFU Customers Pay Less for Utility Services

Cedar Falls Utilities customers enjoy high quality services for less money. 

Families in Cedar Falls spent $992 less on their utilities last year when compared to peers.

Households with CFU electric, water, natural gas, and communications services pay an average of $992 less than residents in 20 peer communities annually.

Every six months CFU surveys utility rates across the state. In the most recent survey, rates from June 2024 to May 2025 were reviewed. The comparison includes communities that are both larger than and smaller than Cedar Falls. 

Cedar Falls residents with all five services paid an average of $346.50 per month. In contrast, residents of peer communities paid an average of $429.17 per month for the same services. This means Cedar Falls residents collectively saved $12.7 million over 12 months.
