We are celebrating one year of energy production at the Cedar Falls community solar project near Prairie Lakes Park.
Cedar Falls Utilities wants to thank all the individuals and businesses that purchased Simple Solar units. Your participation made solar energy a reality in our community.
We want to give you an update on the project. Through the first 12 months of service, the solar panels have produced 2,683 MWH of electricity.
That’s 100% of what our engineers predicted when the project launched. We are pleased with the results and the performance of the panels.
Other facts about the Cedar Falls community solar project:
- The Prairie Lakes Solar Garden is the largest community solar project in Iowa.
- 1,250 families and organizations purchased solar credits in the project.
- 6,516 solar panels sit on eight acres of land.
- The array generates enough energy annually to power 275 homes.
