CFU Scholarship for Students Pursuing Utility Career

CFU offers scholarships to Cedar Falls High School students interested in pursuing a career in electric line construction gas and water construction gas services electronic/digital technology or any other utility related field.

Up to three students will receive a $1500 scholarship to help with tuition. To apply interested students should complete an online scholarship form and job shadow at CFU.

The program is intended to make students aware of career opportunities with which they might not be familiar as well as create a future generation of qualified candidates for CFU.

“We want high school students to recognize there are a lot of great opportunities in the utility industry” says Audra Heineman CFU Human Resources Manager.

“Whether they are interested in power line school construction or even digital technology CFU and other utilities will continue to have a workforce need as previous generations retire.”

Students can often complete minimal training and start a job with competitive pay and benefits right after graduation.

“Some students may not realize there are trade programs where you can graduate in two years and begin your career earning a competitive salary” says Audra.

Job shadows will be coordinated by Cedar Falls High School counselor Susan Langan. The deadline is April 1.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the school in two installments of $750 over two semesters pending passing grades. More information can be found at smore.com/twbvn

Questions should be directed to Susan Langan at 319-653-2515 or susan.langan@cfschools.org
