Wind Sculpture on Waterloo Road

Posted on Wednesday, June 22, 2016

About this project:

The wind sculpture is the work of internationally acclaimed artist Lyman Whitaker. Whitaker creates his kinetic pieces at his studio in southern Utah. His works are sold in fine art galleries around the country.

The sculpture is titled Double Helix Horizontal. It was purchased through the Leopold Gallery in Kansas City, MO. The installed piece is about 20 feet high and 5 feet wide.

Whitaker’s sculptures are handmade of copper, steel and stainless steel, chosen for beauty and durability. An applied patina encourages the natural weathering of the copper.

The sculpture project cost of $4,200 was split between Cedar Falls Utilities and the City's Public Art Committee through Visitor and Tourism revenues.
