Richard McAlister Joins CFU Board of Trustees

Richard McAlister will join the Cedar Falls Utilities Board of Trustees this fall. The five-member board is the governing board for the community-owned Electric, Water, Gas and Communications Utilities.

McAlister is a retired Cedar Falls City Administrator and has been a Cedar Falls resident since 1975. He served in a leadership role with the City of Cedar Falls from 1975
to 2016.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Regional Planning from Iowa State University. He was a member of the Citizens Wired for the Future Committee that led the effort
to organize the CFU Communications Utility.

McAlister’s six-year term begins in September. He succeeds Roger Kueter, who said farewell after20 years of service on the Board of Trustees.

McAlister noted that he worked on many projects with CFU throughout his tenure with the
City of Cedar Falls.

"My interest in the success of CFU began 40 years ago, when I helped establish the first Industrial Park on CFU owned property. I was also a member of the committee that helped launch the Communications Utility. I know the importance of Cedar Falls Utilities in our community."

"CFU plays a key role in economic development in Cedar Falls by providing quality and reliable utility services at competitive rates. I would like to be a part of making sure that continues for decades to come," he continued.

McAlister will serve with current CFU Trustees MaraBeth Soneson, Pamela Taylor, Jeff Engel and
Craig Johnson.
