Check the Label to Choose the Right Light Bulb

Posted on Wednesday, October 28, 2015

CFL? LED? Lumens? There is a lot of information to take in when you need to buy a replacement light bulb. While it can be confusing, everything you need to compare your options can be found on the lighting facts label on the back of each box. Some customers are used to looking for the wattage of a bulb to determine the brightness, but wattage is not a good measure of brightness for newer style light bulbs (LEDs and CFLs). Instead, focus on the lumen value. See the example label on the right for more about lumens and other information to look for when selecting a bulb.
