CFU Customers Support Simple Solar

Earlier this summer, CFU launched a campaign to build Simple Solar, a community-owned solar project. Community solar gives our customers an affordable and flexible way to use solar energy.
"It has been one of CFU’s long-term goals to provide economical, renewable energy to our customers," said Jim Krieg, CFU General Manager.
We are thrilled with the response, and want to thank the community. More than 1,200 residents and businesses have signed up to be a part of the project.
Strong community support means the solar project will be built at the largest size designed for the eight acre site, and will be one of the biggest solar arrays in Iowa.
"Because so many of our customers decided to purchase units and we can build the larger array, we have been able to negotiate very favorable terms with the solar project developer," noted Krieg.
When customers signed up for units, we offered them for $399. The final price per solar unit is $270.
We now have a final agreement with the developer in place, and construction will begin soon at the project site near Prairie Lakes Park. We expect the solar panels to begin producing energy in
the spring. Customers who signed up for units will receive information, including a purchase agreement, in the mail this fall.
If you are still interested in buying solar units, we are adding customers to a wait list. We expect there to be additional units available, and will know more after those who have reserved units complete the enrollment process.
