CFU Earns Highest Rating for Reliability

Cedar Falls Utilities recently earned a Diamond level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)® designation from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for providing reliable and safe electric service.
CFU’s Diamond designation is the highest rating a public power utility can receive. Only 4% of eligible utilities currently hold the Diamond designation. The award recognizes public power utilities that set the bar in four key disciplines.
CFU exceeds the APPA’s standards by minimizing the frequency of electric outages and the length of outages. We have also implemented robust disaster response and cyber security plans.
CFU follows national utility safety standards and has internal practices in place to ensure employee and customer safety.

CFU continually monitors and improves the electric distribution system. Since 2010, crews have moved 20% more of the electric system underground.
Underground lines are protected from the elements. CFU has also invested in upgraded transmission lines to ensure continued reliable delivery of electricity.
