Add-A-Dollar to Help Needy Families Heat Their Home
on Wednesday, November 25, 2020
The Add-A-Dollar program is a simple, direct way to help needy families in our community. Donations made to the program provide assistance with the cost of heating their home.
Customers who are able to help can add a donation to their monthly utility bill. No administrative costs are charged, so every dollar donated goes to help needy households.
“This time of year many of us give thanks for what we have and look for ways to give back,” says Steve Bernard, CFU General Manager. “This year some families have been hit especially hard and the Add-A-Dollar program provides a way to help our friends and neighbors who may be struggling.”
Last year, 63 households received an average of $219 in assistance thanks to customers who to donate to this important program.
Since the Add-A-Dollar program was implemented in 1985, CFU customers continue to demonstrate outstanding support. More than 450 customers donated to the program in the last year.
To add a donation to your bill, fill out the online form available at cfu.net/dollar. Or, complete the Add-A-Dollar section of your monthly CFU statement and mail it back. All Add-A-Dollar contributions are tax deductible and a year-to-date report is included on your monthly statement.
The City of Cedar Falls Department of Community Development administers the Add-A-Dollar funds and determines households that qualify. If you would like more information about the program, please call CFU customer service at 319-268-5280 weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
