Plant a tree program by CFU and Cedar Falls TREES

Spring is a great time to plant a tree and CFU and Cedar Falls TREES can help you save up to $100 off your purchase.

Beyond environmental and health benefits, planting a tree can help you save energy and reduce your utility bill. Trees that shade your home or block wind can reduce energy used for air conditioning or heat by as much as 30 percent.

The Plant-A-Tree program is one of the many ways Cedar Falls Utilities partners with customers to reduce energy consumption.

CFU funds the program and works with the Cedar Falls TREES organization to administer. When you purchase an eligible tree from a participating retailer, you will receive a 40% discount up to $100 per year per family.

CFU contributes towards the cost of the tree, passing the savings along to you at the point of purchase. No rebate forms or paperwork is required.

To qualify for reimbursement, the planting site, soil and moisture conditions must be suitable for the species of the tree selected. Customers can choose any tree from one of 40 eligible species specifically suited for Cedar Falls.

The discount is provided on a first come, first served basis until funding for the year is exhausted and is available now through October 31. You must receive electric service from CFU to be eligible. For more information visit cfu.net/trees.
