CFU Board of Trustees Counsel Transition

Cedar Falls Utilities is governed by a five-member citizen Board of Trustees who live in Cedar Falls and use CFU services.

Board members set policies and utility rates engage in long-term resource and strategic planning and hire the CFU general manager who oversees daily utility operations.

The Board of Trustees also contracts with independent legal counsel. John Larsen local attorney at Redfern Mason Larsen & Moore has been CFU's Board Counsel for the past 35 years.

In June John completed his service as Board Counsel.

"John has been instrumental in CFU's success over the past three decades" says Steve Bernard CFU General Manager.

"His counsel is researched and wise and CFU as well as the community have benefited from his expertise in municipal law. We are grateful for his service."

John will continue to serve clients at his private practice but felt the time was right to transition his Cedar Falls Utilities duties.

Cedar Falls attorney Brad Strouse (pictured here) was selected by the Board to replace John and is now acting CFU Board Counsel.
