Assign stars to special conversations or messages, or use them as a visual reminder that you need to follow-up on a message or conversation later. Simply click the star outline to the left of the message. The star will now be colored yellow.
Here's a way you can use stars to quickly clean up your inbox when it contains many messages you want to delete and only a few that you want to save. First star the messages you want to save. Then click unstarred in the Select: line just above the messge box. Then click Delete. All of the unstarred messages will be deleted.
