For digital TVs - If the picture is pixellating or freezing, check the all connections between the cable outlet, set-top box and TV. A connection that is even slightly loose can cause this problem. If you notice the problem on only one network, it may be a temporary transmission problem originating with the network signal. Please check Cable News and Notes, where CFU will post any known issues with network signals. Other possible causes are worn or corroded splitters or amps inside or outside your home or a malfunctioning set-top box. Try resetting your set top box by unplugging it, waiting 20-30 seconds and turning it back on. If the problem perists, call the Help Desk at 319-268-5221. If necessary, Help Desk staff will schedule a free service call to assist you.
For digital TVs - Watching an analog signal on a large-screen digital TV is like enlarging a postage stamp to the size of a poster -- it does not look good! CFU cable provides a digital signal for every network we carry, so there is no reason to watch an analog signal on your digital TV! More on all digital service.
For analog TVs - If the picture appears fuzzy or snowy on several channels on ONE TV, check all connections between the cable outlet, TV, and any device (such as a VCR or DTA) that your cable signal may flow through on the way to your TV. If the picture is fuzzy on several channels on ALL TVs, there may be damage to a splitter, amp, or to the service drop to your home. Please call the Help Desk for assistance at 319-268-5221. If necessary, we will schedule a free service call to assist you.
If the picture is fuzzy on one channel only, there may be a transmission problem with that channel's signal. Please check Cable News and Notes, where we will post any known issues with network signals.
