HD cable signals are encrypted by the originating network to prevent signal theft. If your TV has a cable card slot (many HDTVs do not), a cable card may be used instead of a set-top box to decrypt and display the HD cable signals. You can rent a cable card from CFU.
A cable card is a one-way device, while a set-top box enables two-way communication between your TV and CFU's central office. Because of that, set-top boxes have the following capabilities that are not supported by cable cards: - Access to On Demand programming and On Demand movie rentals
- Access to Pay Per View
- Searchable, interactive program guide showing 10-14 days of program schedules for all networks
