Equipment Selection Tips

If you are a Basic Plus subscriber with an HDTV, you can get 36 HD channels at no extra programming charge just by renting an HD box or cable card.
All of our set-top boxes give you access to the Interactive Program Guide, pay-per-view, digital music and premium channels (subscription required) such as Showtime, Cinemax, Starz! and HBO.
If you have an HD monitor (sometimes called an HD-ready TV) without an integrated tuner, you need a set-top box to view all HD broadcast and HD cable channels.
If your TV has an integrated HD tuner, you can view ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and PBS in HD without a set-top box or cable card. An HD set-top box or cable card is needed for all other HD networks.
Many customers rent an HD DVR for the recording features, even if they don’t have an HDTV. The DVR recording features work with any TV.
