CFU CyberNet/WiFi FAQ
What is CFU-CyberNet/WiFi
CFU-CyberNet/WiFi lets you access email, banking, shopping, and the internet without a cable modem.

How much does this cost
CFU-CyberNet/WiFi is free to current CFU CyberHome subscribers with a valid CFU email address

What do I need to get it
The only item that you need to access the wireless service is a 802.11b wireless access card. These cards can be purchased from most Office and Electronics stores. Plug the card in, follow the manufacturers instructions, and set the SSID to CFU. Open a web browser, point it at a site outside of the CFU network, and enter your username and password. You can surf the CFU website without having to login.

How does it work
A 100Mb fiber connection is built from the CFU Main Office to a point within the Wireless Mesh network called a Gateway. Client computers connect to the WiFi mesh and packets are routed through the mesh to the Gateway, through the fiber connection, and then to the internet.

I don't have a CFU email address. Can I still get access
If you are a CFU CyberHome customer, you can still access the WiFi mesh. Just call the Help Desk at 319-268-5221 and create an email account. There will be a $5 account change fee.

I am not a CFU subscriber. Can I get access
Sorry, but not at this time. WiFi users must be CFU CyberHome customers.

Where does it work
Currently, the WiFi network is available in the College Hill area from Seerly Blvd to 19th Street. We are planning on installing Access Points on the Parkade and University Ave. in 2004 and 2005. Our Coverage Map is available.
